#StandWithUkraine Press information

On 8 August, the Cabinet of Ministers issued an Order on the transfer of State movable property to the military units of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, which provides for the transfer of 377 Motorola XTL car radios with equipment to Ukraine.

In June this year, due to the situation caused by the Russian military invasion of Ukraine, the Information Centre of the Ministry of the Interior received a request for assistance from the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine regarding the necessary Motorola car radios for the fulfilment of the tasks of the Ukrainian military units and creates the possibility of their transfer free of charge for the needs of Ukraine.

The “Bruņotava” association, with the support of the Information Centre of the Ministry of the Interior, will ensure the delivery of these devices to Ukraine and their transfer to the Ukrainian Government institutions.

The Latvian State, including the Ministry of the Interior, together with its subordinate and other cooperating institutions, continues to actively provide support to Ukrainian citizens and their family members who are leaving Ukraine or who are unable to return to Ukraine due to the war caused by the Russian Federation.

Ukrainian civilians in Latvia are provided with accommodation, food and other assistance. In order to stay and work in Latvia, Ukrainian citizens are currently issued temporary residence permits with the right to employment in Latvia.

In 2023, more than 67 000 Ukrainian citizens entered Latvia via the external border. Most of them are transiting through Latvia to return to Ukraine or to go to another EU country. Ukrainian citizens mostly enter from Russia, Belarus or via “Riga” Airport.

The Information Register for the Provision of Support to Ukrainian Civilians (IRPSUC) currently registers 32 412* Ukrainian civilians, and the Civil Protection Commissions (CPC) currently accommodate 3609* Ukrainian civilians.

A total of 53 008* long-stay visas and temporary residence permits have been issued to Ukrainian civilians in Latvia, while 49 801* persons have been granted a personal identity number.

As of 1 January 2023, temporary residence permits are issued for 2 years.

Meanwhile, temporary protection has been terminated for 4766* Ukrainian civilians due to the fact that the persons have migrated to Ukraine or another country, or as a result of an in-depth examination it was established that the person is not a Ukrainian civilian within the meaning of the Law on Assistance to Ukrainian Civilians.
