#StandWithUkraine Press information
Kampaņa Ukrainas civiliedzīvotājiem

The campaign will run for a total of two weeks, from 11 to 25 March. During the campaign, informative materials are distributed on social networks to remind people how to protect themselves from the risks of human trafficking and where to seek help.

The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) Riga Office in cooperation with the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as the digital marketing agency CreateIT, is implementing a digital communication campaign to prevent human trafficking for Ukrainian civilians living in Latvia.

Protect yourself!

  • Read the job offer carefully and learn more about the employer;
  • Don't sign an employment contract if it's written in another language and you don't know what it says;
  • Keep your ID, phone and bank cards with you;
  • Be wary if your employer tries to isolate you, restricts your movement or asks for extra pay that you haven't agreed beforehand;
  • You cannot be forced to provide services, including sexual ones, in return for the help you receive.

Where to get help? State Police by calling 112 or the association "Safe House", 24/7 Helpline (+371) 28612120, www.patverums-dm.lv

We would also like to remind you that everyone in Latvia who has a smartphone is invited to download and use the new free app "112 Latvija", which offers several advantages - the possibility to call or send a text message to the single emergency call number 112, receive notifications about potential threats and find out what to do in various dangerous situations. The app is also available in English.

One of the advantages of the new 112 Latvia app is that when you call the single emergency number 112 from the 112 Latvia app, the dispatchers will see the approximate location of the caller.  This will enable us to provide assistance more quickly to people who cannot give the exact address of the accident. For the dispatcher to see a person's location, you need to allow the app to access the phone's location at the time of installation or later.
