Today, May 25, an open competition for the construction of a new, modern state-of-the-art State Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) depo, designed in different places of Latvia, has been completed, thereby providing for a faster response to calls, increasing safety for residents in regions, as well as providing fire fighters with adequate and modern working conditions.

“I am pleased that we are getting closer to our goal of building a new State Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) depo. A wide range of bidders have applied for procurement, with high interest and competition. We are looking forward to working on the evaluation of the proposals submitted, with a view to concluding design and construction contracts at the latest in August of this year and to obtaining a new and modern home by the end of 2022, specialists from the State Police and the Emergency Medical Service," the Minister for the Inferior, Sandis Ģirģens, said.

Seven construction companies submitted the tenders: “Amateur, JaunRīga-ECO and Ozola & Bula”, “Archers”, “Delta Construction”, “P & A”, “BBA, BRIDGE, AE”, “RERE Construction” and “ZENG”.

It has already been reported that on 16 April a public tender was launched for the design of documentation for the construction of eight new State Fire and Rescue Service depots in the 3D BIM environment, construction work, as well as maintenance of engineering networks and engineering systems. The 3D BIM environment is a construction information modelling system that allows the design, construction and management of a building throughout its life cycle to be more efficient, faster and consuming much less resources. The new buildings are carefully planned to accommodate fire-fighting car garages, administrative and recreational facilities, as well as technical spaces.

It is expected that within seven months the winner of the competition will have to develop a construction plan documentation for the construction of new buildings by the end of 2022, but after commissioning, the maintenance work of the engineering networks and the engineering system will be carried out.

The Procurement Commission will assess the proposals of the tenderers. The most economically viable offer will be selected as the winner.
