Minister for the Interior Marija Golubeva visited the country's eastern border on Tuesday, July 13. Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš, Chief of State Border Guard General Guntis Pujāts and State Secretary of the Ministry of Interior DimitrijsTrofimovs also travelled to the eastern border.The visit was organised to familiarise themselves with the situation on the border and the work of border guards during a visit to the Opol border guarding department.
During the visit, both the Prime Minister and Minister for the Interior stressed the need for a long-term, structured border development.
“New technologies are an important complement to strengthening our border defence capabilities, but it is just as important that we have excellent and professional border guards doing their work in good faith and with a great sense of responsibility. . It is our task not only to build a border, but also to equip it with the latest technology, ' told Minister for the Interior Marija Golubeva.
